Angat Buhay Executive Director Raffy Magno said that the platform aims not only to reach wider audiences but also to highlight stories of hope from Angat Buhay’s partners and volunteers within their own communities, especially to the youth.

Kung radikal ang magmahal, radikal ang magbayanihan sa panahon ngayon. We want to share the good vibes and good works that our partners in the communities do despite all the challenges.

Health, Dignity, and Hope: Canada and Angat Buhay Stand with Cebu Families

The Embassy of Canada in the Philippines, in partnership with Angat Buhay, provided vital assistance to families affected by the recent Cebu earthquake through the distribution of hygiene kits and food packs. This collaboration forms part of ongoing humanitarian operations that prioritize the health, safety, and dignity of displaced families in the early stages of recovery.

Hygiene kits play a crucial role in emergency response by helping to prevent disease outbreaks, reduce protection risks for women and children, and support overall well-being in temporary shelters. Each kit includes essential items such as soap, sanitary pads, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other supplies, prepared in accordance with international WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) standards.

Yesterday, Ms. Sejal Tiwari, Second Secretary (Political) and Canada Fund for Local Initiatives Manager, and Mr. Carlo Figueroa, Public Affairs Lead of the Embassy of Canada, joined Mr. Raffy Magno, Executive Director of Angat Buhay, in visiting the Tent City in Barangay Cogon and Barangay Nailon. The delegation observed ongoing distribution activities led by hundreds of Angat Bayanihan volunteers, who continue to serve tirelessly on the ground to ensure that assistance reaches the most affected families.

The team also met with local partners and community leaders to discuss strategies for the early recovery phase, focusing on restoring community health systems, strengthening local capacities for resilience, and supporting education recovery efforts.

Angat Buhay extends its deepest gratitude to the Embassy of Canada for its continued solidarity and partnership. Together with our volunteers and partners, we remain committed to reaching vulnerable communities—ensuring that every family affected by disaster can rebuild their lives with health, dignity, and hope.
