Angat Buhay turned over two newly built greenhouses in Ajuy and Concepcion, Iloilo. Earlier in 2024, greenhouses were also turned over in Carles and Cabatuan, bringing the total to four greenhouse facilities established across the province. These structures are part of a shared vision for a malnutrition-free Iloilo, where communities are equipped to grow nutritious food for their own children and families.
More than agricultural infrastructure, these greenhouses represent hope rooted in collective action. Designed to support sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, and food security, they serve as community-owned spaces that can supply feeding programs, improve nutrition during the critical first 1,000 days of a child’s life, and even become income-generating sources for long-term maintenance.
Angat Buhay extends its gratitude to the province, led by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., and his team of health, nutrition, and agriculture officers, as well as to Ms. Mariel Tolentino for facilitating this initiative and for her invaluable support in making this collaboration possible.
From farmers and local officials to mothers and children, the greenhouse initiative brings people together, strengthening local capacity to address malnutrition and proving that lasting change can begin from the ground up, mula sa ani patungo sa hapag.
